I’m Alicia Hite - Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Business Consultant, and owner of a full time private practice in Colorado Springs.
I can totally relate to feeling incompetent as a therapist and wondering if this field was even the right pick for me because of working too hard and not being valued by my employers.
I’ve been a therapist for ten years, and I’ve done the research that has helped me open up not just one but two successful private practices in different states.
Before owning a private practice I worked in variety of mental health settings such as community mental health agencies, drug and alcohol rehab centers, foster care agencies, and academic settings.
While those experiences were extremely valuable in helping me grow as a therapist, hone my skills, and figure out who I enjoy working with, I also had many experiences in those settings that led to me feeling extremely burnt-out and questioning if I really wanted to be a therapist.
This is exactly why I'm passionate about helping other therapists avoid this type of situation. Often times it's not that we don't want to be a therapist, it's that we are working in a setting that leads to us feeling undervalued, under-compensated, and unable to truly help our clients because of the level of stress that we are under.

I still want to offer insurance in private practice. Will I make a sustainable living?
It is definitely possible to make a sustainable living while taking insurance in private practice, you just need the right person to help guide you through the process and help you understand the dues and don'ts of it.
